New Zealand
Over a thousand miles south east of Australia lies New Zealand – the World’s youngest country and the last major landmass to be discovered. Despite this, New Zealand already has a rich and fascinating history with both Maori and European cultures adding their unique flavour into the mix.
New Zealand’s awesome landscapes, lush forests, amazing wildlife and pleasant climate make it a Mecca for outdoor enthusiasts, adventure seekers and nature lovers. The contrast between adrenaline-filled sports and New Zealand’s peaceful tranquility is a delight for every visitor who is sure to get a little taste of heaven whatever type of holiday they seek.
The people of New Zealand are just as appealing as its landscape – the warmth and openness with which the Kiwi’s greet all of their guests is refreshing and just adds to the pleasure of setting foot on this remarkable island country.
The country itself is effectively split in two – the North Island and South Island both being unique in their attraction. A host of smaller islands make up the rest of what we know as New Zealand, all of which are reachable by boat – an adventure in itself when faced with the great ocean waves. As a land of spectacular scenery and low population density New Zealand has developed a reputation, not just amongst the tourists, as one of the best places in the world to experience the great outdoors. Many locals have grown up with a profound love of their landscape, indulging daily in hiking, mountaineering or kayaking, as well as the obligatory trip to the beach or bush.
Cities and Culture
Auckland, in the North Island, is a thriving city located only 30 minutes away from beautiful beaches, hiking trails and holiday islands. A blend of Polynesian cultures, fantastic food and great shopping makes Auckland a great place to visit. Hamilton (Waikato), also on the North Island, is a lush city of green parks, vibrant cafes and historic monuments and has quickly gained a reputation for being a city where there is always something going on.
If you’re looking for arts, culture and fine foods surrounded by breathtaking nature; look no further than Wellington. The city is surrounded by wildlife sanctuaries, seaside villages, parks and ocean beaches – just the sort of thing that New Zealand is most famous for.
With over 15,000 kilometres of coastline, New Zealand is no stranger to rugged cliffs, wild waves and colourful sandy beaches. The coastal city of Christchurch is one of the best places to explore the ocean – try whale watching or take an iceberg cruise to make the most of the city’s ocean to Alps backdrop. New Zealand has long been a traveller’s paradise and once you have visited it and soaked up everything it has to offer, from sunny beaches and busy colonial towns to wild bush and snowy mountains, you will soon understand why.
