Bulgaria
This small country with its rich and diverse culture is fast becoming a firm favourite for European visitors. A beautiful land of rolling hills, lush meadows, forests and beaches provides a feast for the eyes and that’s all before you reach the impressive cliffs and waterfalls of the Balkan mountains!
Bulgaria can offer a huge range of experiences for both adventurous travellers and holidaymakers – from adrenaline packed adventure holidays including rock climbing, trekking and horse riding to relaxing beach breaks or cultural tours. The country’s warm climate and distinct landscape also enables it to produce a fantastic variety of herbs, fruits and vegetables along with a wide variety of increasingly renowned Bulgarian wines.
Aside from marvelling at the scenery or getting stuck into an adventure activity or two, Bulgaria is also a great place to explore due to the numerous monuments, temples and sanctuaries scattered amongst its towns and cities. These remnants of the past date back to before the Bronze age and hold, amongst other things, Thracian riches such as the Vulchitrun and Panagyurishte gold treasures.
Bordered by Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Romania and Turkey, Bulgaria and its friendly, hospitable people is a constant draw for culture-vultures and nature lovers alike. Its Black Sea Coast is famous for its sandy beaches which rival Spain and Greece for their popularity and appeal. Its nature reserves are home to some of Europe’s most admired species such as the brown bear, wolf, boar and deer.
Bulgaria’s Cities
For a country that once upon a time wouldn’t even have entered the heads of European or other travellers, Bulgaria has come on in leaps and bounds as a top destination for all sorts of travel adventures, from mountain to beach, city to meadow.
