Serbia
Located at the crossroads of Central and Southern Europe, Serbia lies between the Balkan peninsula and the Pannonian Plain giving it a hugely diverse landscape – absolute heaven for all you outdoor types! Serbia’s adventurous
landscape really is a playground for adventure enthusiasts. Take advantage of the many activities available in this often forgotten country – from white-water rafting, horseriding, skiing and hiking to fishing, hunting, cycling and other extreme sports.
Serbia’s nature reserves, high mountains, forests and beautiful caves, really are the main attraction for most travellers – a feeling of extreme escapism hits you as soon as you step out into the wilderness and it’s difficult to image tearing yourself away.
Most of Serbia’s appeal lies within the traditional villages and mountain resorts that have sprung up over the years, with the most famous ones being Zlatibor, Kopaonik and the Tara mountains. Whilst most visitors travel to cities such as Belgrade or Novi Sad it’s worth venturing out and spending some time in rural Serbia, in particular the Volcanic splendor of Davolija varoš in South Serbia. Erosion in this area has created miraculous ‘earth pyramids’ which rise out of the ground and were actually nominated as one of the new seven wonders of the world in 2007.
